LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head baseball coach Tony Robichaux has signed a new five-year contract that will see him remain at the helm through June 30, 2020, Director of Athletics Scott Farmer announced on Tuesday.

"We strongly believe that Tony Robichaux is one of the top baseball coaches in the country," Farmer said. "Both on the baseball field and in life, Tony has been a tremendous teacher and role model to all of the young men who have worn the Ragin' Cajuns uniform. We are excited that he has committed to leading our program for the next five years."

The contract will pay $155,580 annually including a $30,000 retention incentive.

Robichaux can also receive bonuses for winning a Sun Belt Conference regular season or tournament championship as well as an appearance into the NCAA Tournament.

Bonus incentives also include reaching the NCAA Super Regionals, reaching the College World Series, winning the College World Series along with setting academic marks and earning Coach of the Year honors. Robichaux can also receive a bonus if the average paid home attendance equals or surpasses 2,500 during the season.

"My wife and our family are very appreciative of Dr. E. Joseph Savoie and Scott Farmer for giving me the opportunity to run their program for another five years," Robichaux said. "It's never been my program, I am just managing it for them, and I am grateful to be able to do that for another five years."

In the last three seasons, Robichaux and the Cajuns have posted the fifth-most wins (143) in the nation trailing only national champions Vanderbilt (156), Virginia (147) as well as LSU (157) and Louisville (148). Louisiana was also one of only six teams to reach the NCAA Super Regionals in the last two seasons.

Robichaux, one of only 16 active head coaches to post 1,000 career wins in Division I, holds a 1,037-667-1 career record while notching a 774-490-1 record in 21 seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns.

During his tenure with the Cajuns, Robichaux has guided Louisiana to 11 NCAA Regional appearances, four NCAA Super Regional appearances and a berth into the 2000 College World Series. His teams have also clinched five Sun Belt Conference regular season crowns and three Sun Belt Conference Tournament titles.

Robichaux has coached 27 All-Americans, 77 All-Sun Belt and 51 All-Louisiana players in 21 seasons with the Cajuns. During that time he has had four Sun Belt Pitchers of the Year, two Sun Belt Player of the Year, two Sun Belt Newcomers of the Year, two Sun Belt Freshmen of the Year, three All-Louisiana Pitchers of the Year, one All-Louisiana Hitter of the Year and five All-Louisiana Newcomers of the Year.

"We've won a lot of things and been able to accomplish a lot winning conference championships, regional championships, trips to super regionals and the College World Series," Robichaux said. "Even though we've been able to accomplish a lot, there are three goals I still want to achieve. The first is to get back to Omaha. The second is to win a national championship, and third would be to see the renovation of "The Tigue" completed. Those are my three goals that I wanted to attain that are still on the table.

"This is the place that my wife and I want to be. We have some of the greatest fans, and myself and the coaching staff will be working hard to accomplish those three goals."
