Blue Hose Fall to Gardner-Webb

CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 Big South Conference game to Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night at Martin Stadium.

The Blue Hose fall to 3-8-3 overall and 0-5-3 in Big South play. The Runnin' Bulldogs get their third conference win of the season as they improve to 6-8-2 overall and 3-3-2 in Big South action.

Shelby Hooe put Gardner-Webb on the board in the 11th minute when she scored her eighth goal of the season deep from the left side off a pass from Brandi Arey. The Runnin' Bulldogs led 1-0 at halftime.

Arey headed it in from the left side for her fifth tally of the season in the 72nd minute to give Gardner-Webb a 2-0 lead. Justine Ibarra was credited with the assist on the goal off her pass from the right side.

Freshman Louise McGirt (Decatur, Ga.) scored her first career goal for PC in when she put the Blue Hose on the board in the 85th minute. Freshman Sarah Yoss (Peachtree City, Ga.) played the ball ahead to McGirt for the score from the left side of the box.

PC finished the game outshooting Gardner-Webb 9-6. The Blue Hose also held a 10-3 corner kick advantage. Yoss and Hannah Gaither (Statesville, N.C.) ended the game with two shots apiece for PC.

Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) takes the loss in goal for PC. She recorded two saves and allowed two goals. Krista Chauvin made two saves and allowed only McGirt's goal to earn the win for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

The Blue Hose will head to High Point on Saturday for their last away game of the regular season. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
