LADY HORNETS CONTINUE SLIDE, FALL 74-52 AT DETROIT TO CONCLUDE MICHIGAN ROAD SWING

(Detroit, Mich.) – Thursday evening, the Delaware State women's basketball team (1-9) concluded its back-to-back road slate in Michigan with a 74-52 loss to the Detroit Titans (5-5).

With this defeat, the Lady Hornets extended their losing streak to six games, whereas Detroit picked up its fourth win in the last five games.

From the opening tip, Detroit controlled the pace leading by double digits throughout the first half.  Holding the Lady Hornets to 36 percent (9-of-25) shooting, including limiting leading scorer Tierra Hawkins (17.6 ppg)) to no points, the Titans scored 16 points off 13 DSU turnovers on their way to taking a 38-20 lead into the locker room.

To begin the stanza, the Titans opened on an 8-4 run to take their largest lead at that point, concluding with a Minisha Frederick-Childress layup.  As a result, head coach Tamika Louis, a native of nearby Flint, called a timeout at the 18:07 mark to stop the bleeding.

The rest of the way, DSU failed to get within 15, as the Titans finished the evening shooting 49 percent (27-of-55).  Leading three Titans in double figures was guard Rosanna Reynolds 22 points (7-of-11), who also was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.

Delaware State, on the other hand, was limited to just 38 percent (21-of-56), in addition to being held to its lowest scoring output of the season.  Detroit natives Raine Bankston (6-of-12) and Raven Bankston (6-of-15) finished with a team-high 14 points, while Hawkins tallied her third double-double of the season with 10 points (5-of-8) and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Coming up, Delaware State will conclude its season-long seven-game road trip on Dec. 30 (5 p.m.) against the ACC's Pitt Panthers.
