Keydets Return to Action Against #21 WVU Wednesday Night

VMI basketball returns to action Wednesday night when the Keydets travel to Charleston, W.Va. to face the #21-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers. Action gets underway at 7:30 p.m. and the game can be seen live on a variety of stations throughout the West Virginia markets - WOWK (Charleston), WVNS (Beckley/Bluefield), WBOY (Clarksburg), My Ohio Valley (Wheeling) and WJAL (Chambersburg, Pa.), as well as tape delayed on ROOT Sports at 3 p.m. Thanksgiving day.

NOTE: The 7:30 start time is a change from what was previously announced. We apologize for any issues this causes.

An audio broadcast will also be available on 96.7 3WZ in the Lexington area. Accompanying audio can be heard on VMIKeydets.com and 3wzfm.com. Live stats will also be available.

Last Time Out (vs. UNC Wilmington - 11/22/2014):

QJ Peterson had 27 points and Tim Marshall added 17, but the UNCW Seahawks scored 84 points in the paint and shot nearly 60 percent from the field en route to a 110-93 win over the VMI Keydets Saturday night at Cameron Hall. Despite the disparity inside, VMI (2-2) was very much in Saturday's contest in the first half, as the Keydets trailed by only one at halftime, 46-45, and had seen 11 lead changes over the first 20 minutes. UNCW (2-1) opened the second half on a 9-0 run, however, and the Keydets got no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Last Meeting with West Virginia (11/28/2012):

D.J. Covington had 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for the VMI Keydets, but the West Virginia Mountaineers put seven players in double figures and had 60 points in the paint, leading to a 94-69 WVU win Nov. 28, 2012 at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W. Va. In addition to its 60 points in the paint, the Mountaineers also held a 25-5 edge in second chance points and turned the ball over just eight times, a season-low for a Keydet opponent.

A VMI win against West Virginia would:

Be VMI's first win over the Mountaineers since Jan. 15, 1969 (87-84 in Morgantown)

Keep the Keydets from falling below .500 for the first time since the conclusion of the 2012-13 season.
