SEASIDE, Calif. - The UC San Diego golf team wrapped up play Tuesday against a strong field at the Otter Invitational, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course.
UCSD placed 18th overall, finishing with a three-round total of 968 (316-330-322). Individually, Jay Lim was the top Triton, placing in a tie for 65th with a 239 (73-85-81), 23-over par on the par-72, 6,869-yard course.
Nova Southeastern, ranked second in the country, held on to its lead from Monday and won the team title with an 885, 21-over. British Columbia was second (890, +26) and sixth-ranked Cal State Monterey Bay placed third (893, +29).
The individual medalist was Nova Southeastern's Richard Mansell, who carded a 1-under par 215. He was the lone player to finish below par.
Chico State's Alistair Docherty was second (218, +2), while Evan Holmes and Connor Kozak of British Columbia tied for third (220, +4).
Also competing for UCSD, Clayton Yamaguchi placed 67th (240, +24), Daniel Yang tied for 74th (244, +28), Jeff Roseth tied for 89th (248, +32) and Mateusz Kucz was 96th (256, +40).
Lim's 1-over 73 in Monday's first round stood as the lowest round of the tournament by any Triton.
Other nationally-ranked teams playing included No. 1 Barry, No. 4 Lynn, No. 5 Chico State, No. 12 Cal State Stanislaus, No. 23 Colorado-Colorado Springs, No. 24 Western Washington and No. 25 Simon Fraser.
The Otter Invitational was the final fall tourney for UCSD. The Tritons pick back up on Feb. 23-24 at Cal State San Bernardino's Coyote Classic.
