No. 20 Rainbow Wahine Set To Host Hawaiian Airlines Classic

HONOLULU – The 20th-ranked University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team continues tournament play this week when it hosts New Mexico, No. 22 Oregon, and St. John's in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The 'Bows (2-1) won two of three matches this past weekend at the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational, beating Ohio and San Diego State and falling to current-No. 17 and eventual tournament champion Arizona State. Tai Manu-Olevao and Kalei Adolpho earned all-tournament honors.

Newcomers Olivia Magill and Kalei Greeley impressed in their first matches in a Rainbow Wahine uniform. Magill led the 'Bows in kills (25) and total blocks (11) over her three matches and Greeley, in her first start on Sunday, ripped 15 kills and hit at a .433 clip.

Sarah Mendoza was excellent on the defensive end in three starts at libero, twice recording a career-high 24 digs.

The 'Bows will play UNM on Thursday (7:30 p.m.), Oregon on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and St. John's on Sunday (12:00 p.m.).

Television: OCSports – Channels 16 (SD) and 1016 (HD) will be broadcasting the Thursday and Friday Hawai'i matches of the tournament with Kanoa Leahey calling the play-by-play and Chris McLachlin doing color commentary.
