WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Men's Soccer senior forward
Dom Sarle (Huntington, N.Y./Bradenton Preparatory) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after compiling five points in the Hawks' 5-0 win over UMass Lowell on Friday. Making his Monmouth debut, Sarle scored the Hawks' first two goals in the game's first 11 minutes, and assisted on Dave Nigro's (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) goal to make it 3-0.
Sarle and Nigro helped turn three UML miscues into goals in the early going of the 5-0 victory. Nigro collected the first turnover, passed ahead to Sarle and the senior chipped the ball over the charging goalkeeper in the 5
th minute. In the 11
th minute, Sarle and Nigro connected several passes inside the 18-yard box, before Sarle's initial attempt was blocked. But the senior recollected the ball and shot below the crossbar for the tally.
In the 28
th minute, Sarle made a clean tackle near the UML 18-yard box to push the ball to Nigro, who scored on one touch inside the far post.
The Hawks return to action tonight when they play host to Lehigh at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn at 7 p.m.
