Field Hockey Rolls to 7-0 win at Ohio

Annalena Ulbrich's hat trick propels 'Cuse offense

Box Score

It took just 2:13 for the Orange to find the back of the cage at Ohio and 'Cuse would never look back from there, rolling to a7-0 win over the Bobcats to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Annalena Ulbrich and Jordan Page each scored twice for Syracuse, and Lieke Visser and Alyssa Manley each chipped in a goal as well in the victory.

"I'm really pleased with our performance," said head coach Ange Bradley. "We played a mature game, scored early and often and put the game away in the opening minutes. We executed well on corners, which is something we've been talking about and that put us up 2 goals to none. Once we got to three we were able to get a good rotation and give some people some much needed rest as we have another tough team in Kent State tomorrow."

Ulbrich got the scoring started for the Orange following a corner. Visser and Page recorded assists on the play after setting Ulbrich up for the score.

Manley would find the back of the cage just over three minutes later off a pass from Ulbrich to give SU a 2-0 advantage less than six minutes into the action.

Page would keep the momentum going in Syracuse's direction when she scored off a penalty corner in the 10th minute and scored again just before the 14-minute mark.

Ulbrich scored the Orange's fifth goal on passes from Visser and Page less than 15 minutes into the contest. 'Cuse would take the 5-0 lead into the break, but tacked on another early in the second half.

Visser's first-collegiate goal opened up the scoring in the second half, with Ulbrich completing her hat trick off assists from Visser and Page to round out the scoring at seven goals.

Rebecca Congel got the start in goal for 'Cuse – the first start of her career, making two saves in the shutout.

The Orange controlled the action all game, out-shooting the Bobcats 17-7.

SU will close out its road trip on Tuesday, taking on Kent State at 1 p.m.

GAME NOTES: Syracuse starts 3-0 for the third-straight season and seventh time in the last eight years ... Ulbrich's hat trick was the first by a member of the Orange since Oct. 6, 2013 when Karlee Farr scored three times in an 8-1 win over Monmouth
