Box Score MARTIN, Tenn. – Kirsten Clemens and Lindsay Elking scored for Saint Louis early and late in the game, respectively, but UT Martin claimed a 3-2 overtime victory in the season opener for both teams Friday night at Skyhawk Field.
Clemens, assisted by Livi Logan-Wood, gave the Billikens a quick lead with a goal just 1:16 into the contest. Rianna Jarrett tallied the equalizer at 16:19, and Olivia Bohlman gave the Skyhawks a 2-1 edge at the 41:02 mark.
That's the way it stayed until Elking (Mary Wright assist) found the back of the net at 84:48. However, Jarrett registered her second goal of the game 4:10 into the first extra frame to give UTM the win.
Hanna Benben collected seven saves for SLU, while UTM's Mariah Klenke made eight stops.
The Bills edged the Skyhawks 20-19 in total shots, and the teams fired 10 shots on goal apiece. Saint Louis earned an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Elking recorded a team-high six shots. All three of Clemens' shots were on frame, and Danielle Tolmais had three shots. Livi Logan-Wood and Jordan Catalano launched two shots on goal apiece.
The Billikens travel to Evansville Sunday. Game time is 1 p.m.
