Tigers Set To Report Camp July 27

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State begins its preparation for the 2014 football season on July 27 as the Tigers report to campus for the start of preseason camp.

Players will check into residence halls and will have a welcome back team dinner followed by a team meeting.

SSU is expecting 90 players to report to the opening of camp.

On July 28, players will pick up equipment as well as have sickle cell and concussion tests run, and a full physical.

After meetings with athletic staff members on July 29 and 30, SSU will hold their first practice on July 31 at 9:00 a.m.

The team will practice in helmets for two days. They will wear shoulder pads for the first time on August 2 for an 8 a.m. practice.

The squad will have an early morning practice on August 3 at 7:45 a.m.

SSU will practice in full gear August 4-8, and will hold their first scrimmage on August 9 at 8 a.m.

Picture day is August 10 at 3 p.m. The team will hold another scrimmage on August 16 at 8 a.m. All practices and scrimmages will be conducted at T.A. Wright Stadium.

The first day of classes is August 18.

The Tigers open their second season under head coach Earnest Wilson III on August 30 when SSU travels to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to play Middle Tennessee State at Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium at 6 p.m. (CDT).
