Men?s Soccer Jumps to 8th in Southeast Region

ATLANTA – After going undefeated in two matches last week, the Georgia State men's soccer team jumped two spots to No. 8 in the most recent NSCAA/Continential Tire NCAA Men's Soccer Southeast Region poll.

The Panthers are 3-3 overall after extending their winning streak to three. On Tuesday, Sept. 16, GSU defeated Presbyterian 1-0 on Cory Plasker's 32nd minute game-winner. CJ Cocrhan finished with three saves en route to his first shutout victory of the season.

Then on Saturday, Sept. 20, Georgia State topped UNCG 2-1 on the road behind a pair of assists by Amiri Abraham. Ali Elkhalil gave the Panthers the led in the 54th minute. Then after the Spartans tied the match, Abraham assisted on Rashid Alarape's game-winner in the 72nd minute.

New Mexico remains atop the region poll and UNC Charlotte, UAB, Kentucky and Lipscomb round out the top five. Old Dominion is currently sixth and Lipscomb seventh. North Florida and Georgia Southern are ranked ninth and 10th, respectively.

Georgia State will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to face No. 5 Lipscomb in the Panthers' next match on Friday, Sept. 26. Then GSU will go to Columbia, S.C. to face No. 7 South Carolina on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
