Shaughnessy Tabbed as CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – William and Mary women's soccer senior Aly Shaughnessy was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 15, following the highest scoring week of her career.

Shaughnessy netted her first multi-goal game of the season tallying twice against Richmond on Wednesday night. She opened the scoring against Richmond when she redirected a cross in the back of the net in the 10th minute. Shaughnessy added the third goal of the night on a similar play in the 68th minute. The senior pushed the Tribe's lead to 2-0 at Penn on Sunday with her goal in the 15th minute.

The Haymarket, Virginia native is one of three players tied for the team lead in points with seven. She holds the team lead with three markers this season. Shaughnessy is the second player in as many weeks to be honored by the CAA after freshman Rachel Moore took home rookie of the week honors last week.

Shaughnessy and the rest of the Tribe return to action on Thursday, Sept. 18 at Davidson for a 7 p.m. match. The Green and Gold returns home for the second of three, three-match home stands against Princeton on Sunday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
