Spiders Earn 12th-Straight USTFCCCA Academic Honor

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - For the 12th-consecutive season, the University of Richmond women's track & field team has been selected as a NCAA Division I All-Academic Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

"We are proud of the academic achievements of our cross country and track & field programs," said Director of Track & field and Cross Country, Lori Taylor. “This achievement was set as a yearly program goal by our teams way back when Steve and I arrived here at UR.  They established a tradition and our current athletes are continuing the tradition.”

The Spiders are one of 208 D-I women's track and field teams in the country to earn the honor.  To be eligible, the teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00.

“We are thankful of the hard work our women and men put into their academic work and to see the tradition continue for 12 consecutive years within our men's and women's cross country and track & field programs is very exciting and truly remarkable,” Taylor added.  “It shows our athletes recognize the importance of their education and that it is the primary reason they are here at UR. To balance the intense competitive schedule we carry with the quality education the professors here provide is what our student-athletes thrive upon. A job well done to our team members."
