LIU Post Welcomes New Cheerleading Coaches

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jul. 22, 2014) - LIU Post recently announced that two new cheerleading coaches, Katelin Townsend and Matthew Blanar, have come aboard from the University of Louisville. Together, they have won six National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College National Championships, four U.S. All-Star Federation World Championships (USASF), and two STUNT National Championships, amongst other awards.

"We are excited to expand LIU Post's cheer program into a national contender that supports the university's NCAA Division II athletic teams," said Townsend. "We look forward to promoting Pioneer pride and supporting all aspects of LIU!"

"Katelin and Matt bring invaluable knowledge and skills to our program," said Bryan Collins (Sayville, N.Y.), Director of Athletics and Recreation at LIU Post. "We are confident that their exemplary dedication and drive will take our cheer program to the highest level, and create an upbeat and enthusiastic environment for our students."

Tryouts are being held on Aug. 9 and 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Pratt Recreation Center. The new coaches are looking for hardworking, ambitious, talented team players who always strive to be the best. Scholarships are available.
